Higher National Diploma in Irrigation Technology 2023

International Training Institute of Irrigation and Water Management Kothmale, is a state institution that is accredited by the Tertiary and
Vocational Education Commission. Applications are called from eligible unmarried Sri Lankan candidates for the three-year full-time Higher
National Diploma in Irrigation Technology conducted by this institute.

1. Recruitment of Apprentices:
a. Minimum Qualifications.
i. Applicants should have passed the GCE (O/L) examination with a credit pass for the English subject.
ii. Should have passed the GCE (A/L) examination in the Mathematics stream in one sitting.
iii. Should be in good mental and physical aptitude under the age of 26 years on the closing date of applications.

2. Procedure of recruitment for training:
It is expected to recruit around 55 trainees for the Diploma in Irrigation Technology course.
In addition to the above qualifications, the procedure for recruitment is given below.
i. Eligible candidates are expected to sit for a competitive examination in respect of the Intelligence Test and time allocation
for each question paper is one hour.
ii. successful candidates in the written examination are required to appear at an Interview.
iii. Candidates will be recruited for the course from those who obtain the highest marks in the written examination and the
interview.

3. Submission of Applications:
i. Application should be downloaded from the institute website (www.kitiiwm.gov.lk).
ii. Applications should be completed in English medium and sent to the Head of the Institution, by registered post.
iii. Any other information related to this recruitment can be obtained by contacting Ms. Bhagya Ariyadasa of the academic
section at 081-2356370 (Ext – 225).
iv. Closing date of the application is 24th of February 2023.
v. The completed applications should be sent to the Head of the Institution, International Training Institute of Irrigation and
Water Management, Riverside, Mawathura in a (9″x4″) envelope. Please write “Higher National Diploma in Irrigation
Technology at the top left-hand corner of the envelope.

4. Conditions:
i. The training course is conducted in English medium.
ii. The expenses for all training will be borne by the government of Sri Lanka and residential facilities will be provided by the
training institute but food and other material needs should be borne by the trainees themselves.
iii. Selected trainees must sign an agreement with the institute that they adhere to the discipline and code of conduct of the
institute and complete the training successfully.
iv. Selected trainees must undergo a medical check-up and should hand over the completed form at the registration.
v. Any trainee wishes to quit the training before the stipulated time he or she will have to reimburse the expenses incurred by
the government by signing an agreement.
vi. A NVQ Level 6 Diploma certificate will be issued to the trainees, who are successful in written and practical examinations
which will be held annually, and the end of each semester and at the end of the training while the Ministry or training institute is
not bound to provide employment relevant to the training.
vii. Applicants should not have been registered for any other Higher National Diploma course.
